Education in Aizawl: Landscape, Scenario and Scope
The second least populous city of the country, Aizawl is comprised of rigorous education system varying from elementary to university; from training institution to technical courses. The state government has urged mandatory education up to basic level.
The structure of education in the city follows national level pattern i.e. 10 2 3. There has been expansion of schools and colleges in order to promote education among children of the city and state. The public schools are made free of fees, and provided with free textbooks and school lunch.
Educational infrastructure of the city has engaged large number of non-residents and foreign students to migrate to the city and pursue their studies.
The newly established university, Mizoram University offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs such as B.Tech, Media & Communication Engineering, M.Sc, MA in Political Science and English etc. The oldest university, Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University offers undergraduate programs like BBA, BCA, BHTM and postgraduate programs like MBA in marketing, finance, banking, HRM, insurance and IT.
The city is well encompassed with plenty of public and mission schools. Its home to some of the excellent institutes of higher education, viz. The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Aizawl, The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, National Institute of Technology Mizoram. All these institutes have been established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.
